Needlemouth (Acusos cadaverosus)
Ghastly Needle-mouth, 9-13 feet long
An aggressive predator of the rivers, the Needlemouth was an extremely intelligent, pack-hunting garlike hunter found throughout the streams and tributaries of the island. Needlemouths were swift and maneuverable, albe to negotiate the leaf-choked jungle streams in pursuit of their favored prey, small and midsized fish.
These incredibly impressive hunters were the sharks of the waterways. While many of the reptilian river carnivores were ambush hunters, groups of 3-9 Needlemouths chased down their fast-moving prey, matching their speed and turns in flat-out races, reaching a top speed of 31-56mph and able to sustain such speeds for relatively long periods of time.
