A jaguar at Canada's Toronto Zoo

Jaguars are a species of big cat.

Though similar in appearance to the leopard, the jaguar is more muscular and its spots resemble rosettes. It is native to the jungles of South and Central America and feeds on animals such as fish, monkeys, birds, anteaters, tapirs, snakes, deer, wild pigs and occasionally livestock. The jaguar's name is derived from a South American Indian word meaning "he who kills in one bound".

A jaguar appears in episode of Kong: The Animated Series.
