The Gribbler (Ambulolepis scutops, meaning "walking-fin shield-face") is a fish native to Skull Island's waterways, their colouring and appearance match the weed choked water.

Facts[]

A peculiar-looking fish, the Gribbler is a type of freshwater fish found only in the swamps and waterways of Skull Island. The most striking part of their appearance is their two appendage-like fins that act like camouflage in the dense foliage of Skull Island's swamps.

If anything, this is their only sign of defence, as Gribblers often quickly swim within the various seaweeds and aquatic plants to blend in their surroundings. Likewise, it is likely they were also armoured to a degree, especially in their large heads, if their scientific nomenclature is anything to go by.

Trivia[]

  • Like all animals from Skull Island. It is unknown what they faced during the sinking of the island. Given the multiple expeditions, there may be a chance that a few surviving populations was saved off-land to a more stable enclosure.
