Carnahan was the first mate in the 1976 adaption of King Kong. When Kong abducted Dwan on Skull Island, Jack demanded they rescue her. As Fred Wilson was too cowardly to enter Kong's lair, Carnahan spearheaded the rescue mission, leading several sailors and Jack to Kong's lair. Kong realized he was being intruded upon when the men used a fallen log to cross a chasm, and shook the log to be rid of his pursuers. Most of the men fell to their deaths on account of this, to include Carnahan.
