The Venture Crewman 17 was a Maori crew member picked up on the many journies across the Pacific likely in Tahiti earlier on but he is originally from New Zealand. Following the voyages of his grand father Te Peehi Kupe, who traveled to England, Mateatu goes aboard the SS Venture traveling the seas and joined the rest of the crew on the expedition to Skull Island.
Biography[]
Experience on Skull Island[]
This man was hired by Carl Denham to an expedition to Singapore (never knowing that the ship was actually going to Skull Island). This sailor ran into Jack Driscoll when he was trying to get off the boat. He helps break up the fight with the natives and tends with the unconscious Jack. He was then among the rest of the crew who emptied most of the objects from the ship in order to save it from sinking after it hit the wall before Ann Darrow's kidnapping.
Death[]
When the crew was escaping from King Kong's wrath, Mateatu tried to shoot him in rapid fire with his Mauser Gewehr 1898, but was unfortunately grabbed and got his head bitten off and decapitated by Kong killing him instantly. His head decapitated and eaten by Kong and Kong after killing the man throws his dead headless corpse against the wall of the cave.
