Rhadamanthus (Rhadamanthichthys luminoscutica, meaning "luminous-whip rhadamanthus-fish") is a fish native to skull island's waterways, similar to an Anglerfish in appearance.

Facts[]

Rhadamanthus is most likely descendant from saltwater Lophiiformes that had migrated in-land within Skull Island and adapted to its freshwater environments. The fish therefore, could also be related to the larger Papilio and Sepulcro due to extreme basal similarities with Rhadamanthus.

As a likely descendant of Anglerfishes, Rhadamanthus is most likely an ambush predator. The thick weeds and muddy waters of the rivers, lakes and swamps of Skull Island makes it a perfect environment for such fishes. Gone are the lures that most characterised these Lophiiformes. Due to the brighter light penetration, such biological needs became impractical. Rather, it is likely that Rhadamanthus hid within the weeds and vegetation to ambush its prey.

Trivia[]

  • Like all animals from Skull Island. It is unknown what they faced during the sinking of the island. Given the multiple expeditions, there may be a chance that a few surviving populations was saved off-land to a more stable enclosure.
